Vegetable gardens

The areas intended for the production of annual vegetables are shaped according to the principles of Permaculture and cultivated intensively, applying methods and techniques suitable for the Mediterranean climate. The crop is grown in 2 levels: horizontally, on the surface of the beds and vertically with the help of grids placed lengthwise in the centre of the beds. The plants are intercropped and rotated according to the crop rotation rules and their compatibility with each other. Soil fertility is enhanced by the addition of organic matter and nutrient-rich liquid fertilizers of organic origin prepared on the farm. The soil is kept covered with organic materials or living ground cover that protects the soil from excessive moisture loss while mitigating the occurrence of weeds. The gardens are surrounded by clumps of vegetation consisting of plants that help to ensure natural plant protection and sufficient pollination.
